Mind Strength-7 Hacks to Self Confidence

Mind Strength-7 Hacks to Self Confidence

“If You don’t have CONFIDENCE, you’ll always find a way not TO WIN.” – Carl Lewis, 9 Time Olympic Gold Medalist

9 times out of 10, defeat begins in the mind.  Think about the last time you went for something a little scary like the last big PR attempt, that interview where on paper you weren’t as qualified as the next guy, that hot girl who keeps looking at you but you can’t find the nerve to go and talk to her.

With defeat already in your mind, how did things turn out?  You don’t even have to answer, my man.  I already know.  You can’t be a WINNER if you lack the confidence.

Now, there’s cockiness and confidence and the former has more to do with showing up someone else than the other does but you can’t lack confidence and expect to come out on top.

It will always be the other guy who wins because he doesn’t even have to beat you.  You’ve already done that yourself.  Lucky him.

Self-confidence affects many aspects of your life.  With it, you’re able to improve your well-being, social setting and motivation.  Without it, you’re never going to get anywhere.

People sense your lack of self-confidence and don’t want to be around you.  You’ll sense it and not want to be around them.

People follow passion and confidence.  Be that guy people want to follow.

Maybe you’re telling me right now that you’re self-confident and you’ve now tuned me out in this post.  Well, listen.  You don’t have to be a total sissy to lack self-confidence.

Think about that one area of your life that makes you nervous.  Think about it and ask yourself if you’re nervous because of a lack of confidence in yourself.

7 Hacks Toward Self-Confidence

Now it’s time to hack into your brain a bit and bring out more confidence in yourself.  You will find it if you are truly looking.

Dress for Success – Appearance is important whether you work from home, sit in a cubicle, own your own business or you’re a top exec at a firm.

Look, you don’t need a 3 piece suit to dress successful.  If you work from home, a nice pressed pair of jeans and a clean shirt is perfect.  However, if you sit around in your boxer briefs “working” just because you can…you’re inevitably going to bring the lazy into your work performance.

You dress like a bum, you’ll look like a bum, you’ll feel like a bum.

If you can’t take care of your appearance first, you’re not going to get very far in life.  That means groom yourself, brush your hair, have a clean shave.

When you look good, you feel good.  When you feel good, you’ll feel confident.  You never know who you’re going to meet next.  Dress for success and see your self-confidence rise.

Envision Success – What is success to you?  It’s different for everyone of us.  Do you have a good mental picture of what success is to you?  Now, how do you achieve success?

Take the time to write down what it will take to achieve what you want out of life.  Now break those achievements out into small steps and start attacking life. Once you begin taking success steps, confidence will ooze from you.  Be the man.

Go Shopping – Studies have shown that people who lose confidence in their intelligence will buy a pen to restore their belief in their intelligence.

How do you make this work for you?  If you’re failing to exercise and are feeling like a fat bum, go buy some new gym clothes and feel that moment of self-confidence within you.

Don’t let that feeling go and get ready to work.If you have a big interview coming up, go buy a new suit and then prepare to address any questions that come regarding why you may be underqualified. This leads me to my next point…

Stacked Barbell-ConfidencePrepare – Don’t underestimate preparation.  People who look like things come easy to them have actually worked their tail off to make it look easy.  You can’t be confident in yourself if you don’t think you can do something.

Think of the things in your pursuit of success that make you nervous.  That’s a great place to begin preparing.  Only you can figure this out.

Increase Your Competence – If you want to be great at something, you have to do more of it.  Want to be a great writer?  Start writing more.  Read books on writing.  Set aside time each day and use the time to write.

Want a bigger back squat?  Start squatting more.  Read books on squatting technique.  Watch YouTube videos.  Read on different types of programming.  Invest in a coach.  Never stop learning.Sometimes the hardest part is just to get started.  It’s time to start now.

Exercise – If you’re not doing this one already, it’s time to get off your butt.  This needs to become a well-developed habit in your life even if it’s only 30 minutes a day.

Strength training and metabolic conditioning will no doubt increase your confidence.  By tackling a morning workout head-on each day, you’ll feel invigorated and know you’re ready for whatever life throws at you.

Sometimes the hardest part is just to get started.  It’s time to start now.

Clear Your Desk – Want to increase your anxiety.  Work in filth.  Throw a bunch of papers on top of your work area and then figure out where to get started.

Do yourself a favor.  If information overload is sitting on top of your desk, go find an empty drawer or box and stuff everything in it.  Declutter.  You know where to go find that paper if you need it.  No sense in it sitting there on your desk staring at you.

Set time each day to slowly tackle that box.  I don’t care how you handle it.  You’ll feel better about yourself if you’re not sitting there with a bunch of to-dos staring at you in the face.

Clutter exudes chaos and shows you’re not in control.  Take back control of your workflow and stay away from the mess.  Do you feel the confidence within you?

Until next time…Stay Jacked, Stay Strong.
